Here at A Woman of Virtue, we believe that just as God created male and female (Genesis 1:27-28), He created them differently (Adam from the dust of the ground & Eve from one of his ribs Genesis 2:22). At the very same time, He created them each with different roles—Adam to have dominion, authority and management over that which was his (Genesis 2:15,19), and after there was no suitable helper found for Adam, the woman to be his helper.
For us wives
This created-to-be-our-husband’s-helper DOES NOT make us less compared to our husband as Galatians 3:28 so clearly states no impartiality in that…
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
In addition, this DOES NOT give husbands the right to talk down to or treat poorly his wife by scripture that clearly states:
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Peter 3:7
Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
Colossians 3:19
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
Ephesians 5:25
However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Ephesians 5:33
Neither does this proclamation of a woman’s God-given role to our husbands give us our worth by Jeremiah 1:5 that lovingly says,
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…
Furthermore..
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)
Long before your husband came along and you became his wife, you had worth unmatched to anyone. God knows the very fundamentals of you and chose you before you even knew Him or knew your need of Him.
No, this mandate and God-given role does not give you your worth or your value—you have that all on your own as a child of God— IT IS simply your job description as a woman and wife of your husband even before children were added to to the mix. Adam being alone was the very first thing that God considered, “Not good” (Genesis 2:18) and He goes onto say, “I will create a helper who is suitable for him.”
That is where you and I come in and our role that is ever so powerful.
